HubiCare's accessibility target, what we test, and how to report a problem.
Our target
HubiCare aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the staff app, the family app, the door tablet and these public pages. Public schools and districts also need this to meet Section 504 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. A conformance report (VPAT) is being prepared; ask accessibility@hubicare.app for it.
What we do
- The main screens are checked with automated WCAG 2.2 AA tests on every change, in English and a sample of the other languages, including right-to-left layouts in Arabic and Urdu. Automated tests find only some problems.
- Color contrast comes from a single set of design tokens that is tested for contrast.
- Pages are built to work with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link, and buttons, links and fields are at least 44 pixels tall.
- Forms have labels, errors are announced, and nothing depends on color alone.
- The staff and family apps are available in English, Somali, Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, Kiswahili, Amharic and Afaan Oromoo (most translations are machine-drafted and waiting for native-speaker review); the door tablet greets families in 26 languages.
- Manual testing with a screen reader, by keyboard only and with real devices (iPad door tablet, low-end Android phone, iPhone) is on our checklist and has not been done yet.
Known limits
- Documents uploaded by programs (PDFs, photos) are shown as they were uploaded; HubiCare cannot make them accessible on the program's behalf.
- The legal pages' body text is English-only for now; the page controls are translated.
Report a problem
If something is hard to use, tell us at accessibility@hubicare.app or (612) 501-8525. Say which page, which device and browser, and what happened. We reply within 2 business days and fix confirmed WCAG AA failures as a priority.
